Zermatt, a charming Swiss Alps village, is renowned for its Matterhorn views and car-free streets. A two-day trip offers breathtaking landscapes, outdoor adventures, and Swiss culture. This guide covers accommodations, transportation, and top activities.

How to Get to Zermatt
Zermatt is unique because it is a car-free village. Visitors must park their vehicles in nearby Täsch, about 5 kilometers away, and take a shuttle train or taxi to Zermatt.
By Train: The Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) connects major cities like Zurich, Geneva, and Bern to Visp or Brig. From there, a regional train runs frequently to Zermatt. The train journey offers scenic views and is the most convenient and eco-friendly way to arrive.
By Car: Drive to Täsch and park in one of the large parking garages. From Täsch, take the shuttle train to Zermatt, which runs every 20 minutes and takes about 12 minutes. (Not recommended)
By Air: The nearest airports are Geneva and Zurich. From either airport, take a train to Zermatt with one or two transfers.
Arriving by train or shuttle ensures you experience the peaceful, car-free atmosphere that makes Zermatt special.
Where to Stay in Zermatt
Zermatt offers a range of accommodations, from luxury hotels to cozy chalets and budget-friendly hostels. Choosing the right place depends on your preferences and budget.
